I charge a flat fee for my plans and let you know them here, up front: no surprises now, and no surprises later (such as getting a new bill from an hourly attorney just because you emailed a question)! Before you sign up, we'll discuss the various options below in detail, and you select the plan and any add-ons that work best for you.
| Will-Based Plan | Trust-Based Plan | Beneficiary-Protection Add-On | Trust-Funding Add-On | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Single | $1,000 | $2,500 | $1,000 | $1,500 |
| Married | $1,200 | $2,800 | $1,000 | $1,500 |
I also offer other services not reflected here, including advanced asset-protection planning, small-business planning, and more. Set up a call today to discuss estate planning or how else I'm able to help you.
What's the difference between these plans? In short, a will directs the court how to dispose of your assets (instead of using the default rules) and recommends who you'd like to care for your child(ren). It's a public and sometimes time-consuming process, and it may be the right tool for you. A revocable trust is different; it still handles the disposition of your assets, but faster and in a more private manner. There are costs and benefits of each; we can discuss your specific situation in our initial consultation.
All plans include an initial consultation and a planning session. We'll sit down together and discuss your estate-planning goals. Then, I'll prepare the relevant wills and/or trusts to make those goals a reality. Feel free to follow up with a call or email if you need to change or update something. A few weeks later, we'll have a signing ceremony to actualize your plan. (Changes after the signing ceremony may incur additional costs, though I'm happy to answer questions at any time.) Then, for trust plans, we'll move on to funding the trust.
All plans include will(s) and/or a trust (which address what happens when you and/or your spouse pass away). They also include documents that address what happens when you're living but become incapacitated (such as how you want to be treated, who has the right to make decisions for you, and who has access to the details of your care). Finally, they include documents which address both the short-term and longer-term authority and preferences for the care of your child(ren), if applicable.
All plans also include a three-year check-up call. We'll discuss whether any changes are needed, and if they are, we can address those at a significantly reduced rate. I'm always just a phone call or email away if something comes up in the meantime.
A word on pricing: I publish my prices because they're competitive for a truly thoughtful and comprehensive estate plan. Sure, if you're just looking for a set of documents, you can get them for next to nothing. You have to wonder, though, will a boxed or AI plan work as intended when it really matters? Or, if you obtain a set through a discount plan that's built for volume, will it really reflect the particularities of your family, or your actual goals and values? These are just some of the gaps that my thoughtful, comprehensive planning is designed to address.
